Founded in 1652 in Tokyo, DOMYO is an atelier devoted to the Japanese traditional craft of kumihimo.
Our braided cords have long been used for sword accessories, obijime(decorative cords for kimono), court attire and other cultural purposes, and continue to be appreciated by many.
For generations, DOMYO has also worked with museums, temples and shrines across Japan, restoring and reproducing historical cords and researching braiding techniques preserved in various regions.
Our aim is to create products that carry Japan’s traditional craftsmanship to people around the world. With a strong commitment to preserving heritage, every stage of production - dyeing, measuring and aligning, braiding and finishing - is carried out entirely by hand, ensuring the highest standard of quality.
