Description
Harris Tweed Hebrides is a acclaimed textile manufacturer based in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The largest producer of Harris Tweed® since 2007, the world-renowned handwoven cloth celebrated for its character, quality, and deep connection to Scottish tradition. Every metre of fabric is made exclusively in the islands, using 100% British Pure New Wool, and crafted by islanders whose skills have been passed down through generations.
This commitment to heritage goes back to the 19th century, when Harris Tweed® was first woven in croft homes across the Hebrides. Today, Harris Tweed Hebrides continues that legacy, working with over 120 independent weavers who handweave each length of fabric in their own homes. Every stage of production—fibre dyeing, carding, spinning, weaving, and finishing—takes place in the islands, a truly unique textile.
At its mill in Shawbost on the Isle of Lewis, the company brings together expert craftsmanship and thoughtful design. The result is a fabric that is not only rich in heritage but also relevant to the modern world. Each length of cloth is inspected and independently authenticated by the Harris Tweed Authority, bearing the famous Orb certifcation mark - the final seal of approval.
The wool used is 100% British Pure New Wool—natural, renewable, and responsibly sourced from farms across the UK. Harris Tweed Hebrides places sustainability at the core of its process, maintaining low-impact methods that respect both people and planet.
Beyond its environmental values, the company plays a vital role in the life of the island community. It supports local employment, strengthens traditional livelihoods, and helps ensure that the art of handweaving will endure for generations to come.
Though rooted in tradition, Harris Tweed Hebrides looks forward with creativity and style. The company develops both classic and contemporary designs and collaborates with leading fashion houses, interior designers, and creative partners worldwide. Its cloth is featured in tailoring, outerwear, soft furnishings, and accessories—always offering a blend of authenticity and elegance.
Harris Tweed Hebrides stands for three guiding principles: legacy, luxury, and low impact. These values define every decision the company makes, from the materials it sources to the way it supports its community and the future of its craft.
Each metre of Harris Tweed® carries a story—of landscape, tradition, skill, and care. When you choose Harris Tweed Hebrides, you choose a timeless piece of Scottish culture, made with pride and purpose.
