Sourcing strategies: what lies ahead? Première Vision x Institut Français de la Mode Chair
Talks Area, Hall 4
2022 was marked by a level of instability in economic conditions rarely seen before. With the COVID-19 health crisis far from over, the global economy has seen the return of high inflation which looks set to last. On the European side, the euro has suffered a sharp decline and the fashion markets are struggling to reach the levels achieved in 2019. In this context, have private labels had to rethink their sourcing habits? Has China’s zero-COVID policy changed the geography of sourcing? And finally, with growth expected to slow right down in 2023, what lies ahead for sourcing strategies?

The EU Sustainable Textile Strategy – its impact on the global textile ecosystem
Talks Area, Hall 4
In March 2022, the European Commission launched the EU Textiles Strategy, which is the most ambitious plan ever, to push our sector towards sustainability and transparency, and promote a new circular business model. 16 pieces of legislation are being developed to put that strategy into practise. If wrongly designed, that new framework may collapse the European textile value chain. But if done rightly, the changes ahead could bring a paradigm shift in our sector, where competitiveness is no longer based on price only, but also on sustainability and innovation.
